In the Limhamn district in southwest Malmö is the iconic townhouse area Bellevue from the mid-1950s. The area was designed by architects Fritz Jaenecke and Sten Samuelsson, known for their modernist and bold design language and were then, just like now, popular with those interested in design and architecture.
As a tribute to the history and character of the houses, we have created a kitchen for one of these fantastic terraced houses with a clear foothold in Scandinavian aesthetics.
The kitchen's design is adapted to the age of the house but also to today's need for function to suit the modern family. In the middle of the room is a kitchen island which is a social meeting place with open storage.
The granite "Lemon Ice" has a beautiful and soothing pattern that is reminiscent of ripples in a stream. By using granite, you have a very durable material that will withstand external damage for generations to come.
The beautiful grain in the oak is highlighted by the chocolate brown stain. The design of the kitchen is reminiscent of beautiful, Scandinavian mid-century furniture.
To give the kitchen space and elegance, two floating shelves were chosen instead of top cabinets where the favourite glass and porcelain can be placed.
The beige walls, the curtains from Kvadrat, the brown oak and the warm, calm granite - together they soften the straight lines in the minimalist kitchen.
The kitchen matches nicely to the stairs and the stair railing in the hall. The clear frames around the drawers are a nice homage to the iconic house's window which in the west has an incredible view of the ocean.
By varnishing the fan cover in the same color as the wall, you get a harmonious and calm impression. Just as the color matching between electrical sockets and stove creates a uniform feeling in the site-built kitchen.
